Thank you very much for the history of “our” name. I descend from a David McCuller ( died in Ga. USA ca. 1796) and have absolutely no information on him before that. I am at a loss to connect him to Scotland family, but your analysis is most helpful.

    Thank you.

My history since in 1600 in little britan with Jacques Coulloch. This origine is celtic name not french. The genealogist thinks this a soldier irish or scot come from in Ware of hundred years. I am a genealogist of my family and i have traced 800 sujets coulloch and the variant names of cousins (1800 Colloch 1900 Colloc’h) before 1530.

Perhaps and probably, the Coulloch ancestor is a lointain cousin of this Mac Cullaich. The honorary librairian Robert M. Strathdee of the scotish genealogy society in 1991 says at me in a letter.

i have a contact with Mc Colloch of Clan MacCulloch of New York in the web site for interresting in 2004 and i have say my research.

Sorry for my bad english but i will a new contact for echange eventually.

    Sincerly yours. Jean.

    Dear Mark,

Two years have passed since my first contact and I’m still looking for the history of my ancestors.

In the parish archives of Brittany, I discovered recently, old ancestor ploar (Douarnenez) whose Coulloch signing Guillaume Coullouch born around 1589. His son William is 2 Notaire Royal and her grand-son Michel is Coulloch 1661 Prosecutor of the royal court.

This supports my thesis that a soldier ancestor came from Ireland or Scotland to fight in the Duchy of Brittany (France) during the Hundred Years War. Ploaré was part of a fort that controlled the Cap Breton during the wars.
Je am pleased to discover that Mac’s Cullaich mine blog.
