Dear Mark,

Two years have passed since my first contact and I'm still looking for the history of my ancestors.

In the parish archives of Brittany, I discovered recently, old ancestor ploar (Douarnenez) whose Coulloch signing Guillaume Coullouch born around 1589. His son William is 2 Notaire Royal and her grand-son Michel is Coulloch 1661 Prosecutor of the royal court.

This supports my thesis that a soldier ancestor came from Ireland or Scotland to fight in the Duchy of Brittany (France) during the Hundred Years War. Ploaré was part of a fort that controlled the Cap Breton during the wars.
Je am pleased to discover that Mac's Cullaich mine blog.
My blog is "colloch.e-monsite.com/blog.html"
CLAN COULLOCH-COLLOCH
Thank you and long life to the different clans.

Make that future generations never forget where we come from.

Sincerely yours
Coulloch Jean-Colloc'h

Read your information with interest.

I have compiled McCully/McCulley/McCullie family trees worldwide for many years in a personal database . Most lines can be traced from records back to Ulster or more specifically Belfast in the late 1700s, early 1800s and stall there because of the lack of information.

My DNA revealed an exact match with a McCulley line and close matches to Cully and a McCauley line. Rather than being Celtic in origin the DNA showed my ancestors came from Eastern Europe!

Dear Mark,

I really enjoyed learning so much about the McCullough name. I have recently become interested in my familie's heritage and your research was just great! I hope someday my family can visit Scotland and Ireland. I just wanted to thank you and share these thoughts.

Thank you.

My history since in 1600 in little britan with Jacques Coulloch. This origine is celtic name not french. The genealogist thinks this a soldier irish or scot come from in Ware of hundred years. I am a genealogist of my family and i have traced 800 sujets coulloch and the variant names of cousins (1800 Colloch 1900 Colloc'h) before 1530.

Perhaps and probably, the Coulloch ancestor is a lointain cousin of this Mac Cullaich. The honorary librairian Robert M. Strathdee of the scotish genealogy society in 1991 says at me in a letter.

i have a contact with Mc Colloch of Clan MacCulloch of New York in the web site for interresting in 2004 and i have say my research.

Sorry for my bad english but i will a new contact for echange eventually.

Sincerly yours. Jean.

Thank you very much for the history of “our” name. I descend from a David McCuller ( died in Ga. USA ca. 1796) and have absolutely no information on him before that. I am at a loss to connect him

Wow, this is fantastic research - we are a family of McCullagh living in Australia and I had gathered bits and pieces for myself - but this is terrific - you have put it all into one blog and helps to understand our heritage.
Thanks for all of your hard work!!
